River Levels

  • The Northwest River Forecast Center  is a really great resource.  The link will take you to a page that gives an overview of hydrologic conditions for the entire area in one glance.  Click on any station for more details. The station PHI03 (the next link on this page) is the Marys River at Belfountain Road, and the station COR03 is the Willamette River at Corvallis.

  • Marys River Current AND PREDICTED Flows from the NWRFC. The hydrograph you will see shows stage (how high the water is) and discharge (how much water is flowing) for the past ten days, a forecast for the next few days, an idea of what the trend should be beyond that, as well as maximum and minimum flows for that date.  A local weather forecast is also included as well as links to other information about the gauge and historic flood events.  This is perhaps the single best link for monitoring Marys River water levels. Good stuff!

  • USGS Flow for Marys River at Bellfountain Road Gauging Station   This site has 6-day graphs of discharge and stage updated every hour in the winter, but as infrequently as every four hours during the summer. Expect a one hour lag time from the time the gauge was read to when the data are posted on the site.  Based on 45 years of flow data, this chart also shows max, min, 20%, 50%, and 80% exceedence for the day. There is also a link to a whole list of other links to USGS gauges in Oregon.

  • Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service, a project of the National Weather Service; link to Portland regional coverage. This site shows a number of river gauging stations in western Oregon and southwest Washington.  Click on the link that says Philomath to access the Marys River gauge, and the page will generate a graph of river stage for the past two days plus a prediction for river stage for the next two days.  Bank-full (16 feet) and flood stage (20 feet) are also shown when levels are near that stage.

  • Pat Welch's Page of Oregon River Levels    Pat is a kayaker, so this page is focused on information most useful to boaters.  Included are stage and discharge of most streams in Oregon as well as temperature for many others.  Clicking on  any hyperlinked data will generate a graph of stage or discharge.  You can also access the database directly.  Other information shows if the river is too low, okay, or too high to boat safely, but I have boated beyond these ranges.  Pat also maintains similar data for all the other western states, and a link on the top of this page will take you there.   Back to top
