Minutes of the MRWC Steering Committee meeting January 17, 2007
Present: Gordon Cumming, Liz Dent, Karen Fleck-Harding, Tom Murphy, Curt Seeliger,
Ken Faulk was also asked to attend to provide background information on ODFWs
Conservation Strategy for the area.
Outreach and Education report (in addition to her monthly report)
- OWEB visited Newton Creek again. The additional scrutiny is not for the
technical assistance grant but rather due to the acquisition request.
- Met with Tom Murphy and other Muddy Creek residents to discuss ideas we
might be able to address, such as Oregon chub recovery and the Greenberry
Irrigation Project. After some later discussion, we seemed to agree to approach
landowners for an 8x11 picture and short description of their project.
- The Halsey/Alpine community has asked Karen to talk to them about the Cardwell
Hills Community restoration efforts. Kings Valley is also interested in a
similar presentation.
- Working with Steve Smith at two sites in the Muddy Creek subbasin; one of
which is to restore wetland habitat.
- Karen is willing to postpone billing the council for her Woods Creek time
to allow more participation by landowners.
- HCPs for current CHC participants are almost completed.
Measure 37
- Peter Idema has agreed to talk to the council about the +/- of M37 in March.
February Council Business/Dialog meeting planning
- Staff reports
- Steerage report
- Possibly call for volunteers for Steering Committee [If we do this, I think
we should make it clear what is expected, and be prepared to provide interested
people with a CD of relevant documents.]
- Treasury cursory overview report, perhaps.
- Restoration priority maps may be presented to the council if we have had sufficient
information and time to digest the underlying methods and metadata.
- The short presentation on the Benton HCP may be moved to March with the M37
presentation.
- Possibly Get input on meeting at other locations, such as Alpine. [Or did
we decide we wanted to wait on this?]
