Minutes of November 7th 2001 Meeting
--Libby McCulley of Willamette River Keepers introduced herself and her organization,. She suggested some areas where we might work together, such as advocacy, policy, permits, Clean Water Act, “adopt-a-mile” water quality volunteers, and River Guardians.
-- Bylaws have been completed and coordinator will distribute for final council approval.
--Treasurer Election - Marge Stevens was approved as our new treasurer. She has an impressive background and experience for the job.
--Performance evaluation for Sandra Coveny completed- consensus was she is doing a fine job!
--Monitoring Project update- Lance Campbell from the Forest Service gave us an interesting and very informative slide presentation showing us some of the native fish in our watershed, and where they are found. He used a combination of snorkeling in clear water and electro-shocking in turbid water to obtain his information. He took color photographs of some of the fish he obtained. Cutthroat Trout were the most prevalent species.
--Culvert Committee: There was a tour at 12:30 on Friday, Nov. 16th beginning at the Philomath Library.
--Outreach and Education Committee: Mark Taratoot stressed the need for more member participation. Mark asked for volunteers to work on particular pieces of the outreach and ed. plan. Several people volunteered for project implementation, although more volunteers opportunities exist. More on this at each council meeting.
